About Florentinis

Our Florentines are made right here in Marlborough, New Zealand. Florentinis draw on a long history of Florentine culinary development – dating back perhaps as far as the 1600s. Through extensive trial (and the occasional error) we have evolved a recipe that we are very proud of. We specialise in Florentines – by choice, they are the only product we make.

Made from almonds, glacé cherries, mixed peel, crystallized ginger, Turkish sultanas, cream, butter, caster sugar and our unique blend of chocolate – these gluten free Florentines need to be tasted to be believed!

We consider our Florentines to be a true gourmet, artisan product as each one is made by hand using European-made molding equipment; packaged by hand; and shipped to satisfied customers. To us it's also all about taste. Food crafted in small batches with the utmost attention to detail in process and ingredients simply tastes better than any industrialised counterpart can.

Meet Hamish and Angie, Creators of Florentinis

Every Florentine is lovingly made in our commercial kitchen in Marlborough by co-owners, and professional chefs, Hamish and Angie Beard.

We immigrated to Marlborough in 1983 (from England) because of its enviable reputation as the gourmet ‘wine and food capital of New Zealand’ and we are now both proud New Zealand citizens!

As two professional chefs, we love our food! We ran our own successful Blenheim-based cake and gateau business, Truly Scrumptious, for ten years – hence the development of our delicious Florentini business. Our gluten-free European gourmet Florentines are based on an old recipe from Angie’s English pastry tutor.

We now live and work out of the glorious Dartington Barn after looking for a home and business premises with plenty of character and the 'wow' factor. Hamish was brought up in an old Sussex barn, so when we found Dartington it fitted the bill perfectly. 

We just love Marlborough with its Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir wine, quinnat salmon, greenshell mussels and its cornucopia of wonderful produce. We like to say we live in paradise.
